We anticipate adding more information here on the Regiment, its units and their service
history during the war. The term "Struck off Strength" is a generic term using
in the Army in this period and may refer to leaving the unit due to death, injury,
transfer and a range of other circumstances.
Note: The nearly 10,000 entries in the database were converted from a typescript
in the possession of the regiment by Lisa Forbes, a student employed on an Experience '98
grant, using Optical Character Recognition software. Subsequent data cleanup was done by
Gail Richardson and Walter Lewis under the direction of Rick Ruggle. Some of the errors
in the database are undoubtedly an artifact of the conversion process. Others were in the
original typescript. Further cleanup will be done, but it was felt that even in the
present condition it had some value to researchers.
